Ultimate Chocolate Cake

It’s as good as it looks!

Shuga’s FIRST PUBLISHED recipe:

Ultimate Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

2 cups cake flour

1 cup sugar

2 tsp baking soda

4 Tbs. (heaping) cocoa

1 cup water

1 cup mayonnaise (I prefer Hellman’s)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix all ingredients together. Pour into greased and floured 8-inch cake pan. (I use equal parts of flour and powdered sugar.) Bake 40-45 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on wire rack.

Hungarian Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients:

6 squares of unsweetened chocolate

1 lb. confectioner’s sugar

1/3 cup hot water

3 egg yolks

½ cup of soft butter

1 ½ tsp of vanilla

Melt chocolate in double boiler. Add sugar and water at the same time. Beat until well-blended. Add egg yolks one at a time. Beat well. Add butter a little at a time until smooth. Add vanilla. Now you are ready to ice the cake!
