Beat the Heat! Fruited Mint Iced Tea Recipe

Beat the summer heat with this refreshing drink—see recipe below.

Fruited Minted Iced Tea

Ingredients:

3 cups boiling water

5 regular tea bags

12 sprigs fresh mint

2 cups sugar

¼ cup of lemon juice

1 cup orange juice

5 cups of water

Garnish: with mint sprigs, orange, and lemon slices

Mint sprigs and lemons are used in the tea and garnish.

Note how the mint is pressed to release the remaining oils.

Directions:

Put 3 cups of water in a sauce pan

Add mint sprigs and sugar to make mint simple syrup

Bring to a boil

Turn off heat

Cover & steep for 10 minutes

Pour simple syrup in strainer and use back of spoon to press mint to release the remaining oils

Add 5 tea bags to pitcher and pour in the minted simple syrup

Cover and steep for 10 minutes

Add lemon juice, orange juice, and five cups of cold water

Additional whole slices of orange and lemon may be placed in pitcher

Serve over ice

Garnish with pieces of mint, orange, and/or lemon wedges
